Gone Pull Through
I want to begin with a thank you from me to four of my favorite customers. These four longtime customers were far more than simply customers. They were close friends and business mentors to me, helping me understand the deepest meaning of what Samuel Jackson stands for, both through our conversations and through their examples. Unfortunately, all four of these friends, well advanced in years, happened to pass away from natural causes in 2014. I penned the lyrics for this music video in the autumn of 2014 and set them to a melody made famous by Alan Jackson (no relation). I know that each of them would enjoy watching the cotton gin processes of 2014 that form the video backdrop. This is my testimonial and heartfelt thanks to each of them.

Cotton ginning is an iconic American industry, which gave birth not only to American industry and innovation two centuries ago, but to remarkable individuals who carry on that proud tradition today. “Gone Pull-Through” was filmed and recorded entirely on the high plains of Texas in 2014. It was produced, directed, and performed by West Texans who grew up in the world of high plains cotton.
There is a special vocabulary and culture shared in the cotton ginning industry. For those, this tribute will carry special significance. For others who just enjoy seeing and listening to something out of the ordinary, sit back and enjoy a brief view into the special world that cotton ginners share.
